You do not have to be a member of FAVR to take this course but the cost will be $250.  While the course was developed for members of FAVR, it is directed towards all that operate short-term rentals in the State of Florida.  This course is identical to the standard STRSI Course offered by Breezeway, but has Florida specific laws and material included.  Members can request a promo code for free access after their membership is verified at safety@breezeway.io

Is this course accredited?  What authority does Breezeway have offering this course?

As of November 2022, this course is not yet accredited, but we hope to change that in 2023.  Justin Ford at Breezeway is the only recognized Short-Term Rental Safety Expert in the world.  Breezeway "invented the wheel" when it came to identifying safety issues in short-term rental rentals.  No other course or program anywhere has ever taken a deep dive into analyzing potentially safety hazards in short-term rentals.  

What is the difference between this course and other short-term rental safety courses offered by Breezeway?

This Florida version of the STRSI Course has all the specific requirements related to the State of Florida as of 2022.  An extra focus on Florida State Laws and Regulations related to vacation rentals is taken in this version of the STRSI Course.  Topics related to cold-weather areas, such as snow and ice-related items are not included in the course.
Meet the instructor

Justin D Ford

Justin is the Director of Safety & Certification Programs at Breezeway; where he is helping property managers and owners maintain the safety of vacation rental properties.  The International Vacation Rental Management Association has recognized Justin as the Ambassador to safety for the short-term rental industry world-wide. As a short-term rental safety expert, Justin was the first to elevate awareness of safety in vacation rentals back in 2013. Prior to Breezeway, Justin co-founded On the Water in Maine in 2006 and grew the company into the highest-grossing vacation rental company in New England. A former member of the US Coast Guard and a firefighter, Justin travels worldwide to share his industry expertise on short-term rental safety.
